Future Sea Level.Org

About Us

Initiated in 2006, FutureSeaLevel.org is a collaboration of Aquarium of the Bay Foundation, the Sierra Club and the San Francisco Department of the Environment (SF Environment). Along with sharing a way to graphically illustrate the effects of rising sea levels, we hope to inspire Bay Area residents to work together to find solutions.

We began this project by temporarily installing brightly colored tape around the entire Aquarium of the Bay building at Fisherman’s Wharf to illustrate how high the sea level would rise in San Francisco if the ice covering Greenland or Antarctica were to melt.

Our hope is that this website inspires you to create your own temporary art installations, find out more about Bay Area climate change, learn how you can help stop rising sea levels, and share this information with your friends, family and community.
